ALBURTIS BOROUGH COUNCIL

Alburtis Borough Council swiftly reviewed the agenda at the Nov. 13 borough meeting.

With no public comments, council discussed a garbage contract, snow removal and grants.

With the first order of business, council carried a motion to accept the extended sixth year contract bid from J.P. Mascaro and Sons.

Next, it was announced maintenance supervisor Donnie Derr received his water certification.

Council also proposed potential plans for snow removal this year. Derr has two extra men in the event of extra snowfall this winter. Council members also discussed possibly hiring more help in case of any emergencies.

Council then discussed borough finances and preapproval for installation of a swing.

Borough Manager Sharon Trexler said the Pennsylvania Department of Transporation still possesses some information required for specific grants the borough does not yet have.

The borough assessed Raines’ proposal to purchase a swing set at the playground in the spring. Council explained the swing expenses are listed in next year’s budget. Following a vote, council then approved to proceed with the purchase in Spring 2020.

Before concluding the meeting, Trexler informed council a letter was sent to a property owner regarding water drainage issues entailing that the responsibility is not with the borough, but the homeowner. The borough has yet to receive a letter from the homeowner.

The next borough meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Nov. 25 to avoid scheduling conflicts for the upcoming holiday.
