At the Hall: There’s lots going on at Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown, including “Laughs at the Lyric,” Nov. 20; “Third Thursday,” Nov. 21, and The Dover Quartet, Nov. 24. The Dover Quartet performs in concert, 2 p.m. Nov. 24, in the “Chamber OnStage Series,” whereby performers sit on the hall’s main stage facing the audience, which sits on the stage facing the musicians. The Philadelphia-based Dover Quartet has received awards as a group, including at the 2013 Banff Competition, and individually, including the quartet’s first violinist Joel Link, first prize, Menuhin Competition; violinist Bryan Lee and violist Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt, soloists, Philadelphia Orchestra and Tokyo Philharmonic, respectively, and cellist Camden Shaw, who released a solo album on the Unipheye Music label. The program is: Mozart, “Adagio and Fugue,” K. 546; Hindemith, “Quartet No. 3 in C Major,” Op. 16, and Brahms’ “Quartet No. 3 in B-flat Major,” Op. 67. Tickets: Miller Symphony Hall box office, 23 N. Other Hall events: The “Laughs at the Lyric” standup comedy returns, 8 p.m. Nov. 20, The Lyric Room, Miller Symphony Hall. Emcee is Janear Hankerson of Easton, who has performed at ComedyPlatz, Musikfest; Brew Haha, and Steelstacks, Bethlehem. The lineup includes Kris Fried, a 2003 Salisbury High School graduate who has appeared at the Comedy Cellar, New York City; on “The Greg Gutfeld Show,” Fox News, and has written for SNL’s “Weekend Update”; Christina Anthony, who performs at the Philly Improv Theater, and Betty Smithsonian, recipient of the 2019 Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best of Philly, Up and Coming Comedian.” The performance is expected to include adult language and-or situations. Those age 13 - 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No child 12 or under will be admitted. There’s a cash bar. Snacks are available for purchase. Seating is upon arrival.
