Supervisors, fire company to meet on Nov. 21

The 2020 budget was reviewed by Weisenberg supervisors during their Nov. 11 meeting.

Fire company support was discussed as it related to the budget.

Money budgeted for the township fire company sometimes does not meet the expenses.

Initiation of a fire tax was discussed and will be heard at a proposed joint meeting with the fire company 6:30 p.m. Nov. 21.

Long-term funding of the fire company will be on the agenda.

Supervisor Linda Gorgas commented.

“There is a difference between what we need and what we want,” Gorgas said.

The board will try to determine a rate when and if they adopt a fire tax.

Establishment of truck restrictions on Siegfriedale Road was discussed.

The ordinance is ready for adoption whenever the board is ready. The restriction, the maximum trailer length of 40 feet, will be from Independent Road to the township line with Maxatawny Township.

The fire company reported 171 calls for the year. A hoagie sale is underway with delivery on Dec. 5 with order deadline of Nov. 26.

Some fire company equipment has been repaired and is back in service.

Cub Scout Troop 61 is looking for a community project to do. Supervisors will try to locate some projects which could be accomplished by the troop.

Tony Werley reported the road crew is putting up snow fence and is getting equipment ready for winter.
