STUDENT PROFILE - Liam Chavez, Liberty HS/BAVTS - Coordinated by Julia Swan
Family members: Dario (dad), Mary (sister)
Favorite subject: My favorite subject is history (both world and American) because I enjoy understanding the modern day world and what events and people helped to establish it.
Activities: SkillsUSA, National Technical Honor Society, local youth group.
Next steps: I would like to further my knowledge of the electrical field through a three-year apprenticeship with the IBEW as well as attend a college to study theology.
Career goals: I am not entirely sure at the moment, but the most likely ideas are to be the head of my own electrical business as well as some place in Christian ministry.
Heroes: My Mother, who was my example of hard work, positivity, and excellence as well as maintaining good character and integrity; my father, who has always encouraged me to always challenge myself both at home and in school; my uncles and my grandparents, who have always been there to encourage me and support me in many other various ways.
Hobbies: I enjoy coin collecting and filming with my action camera.
Current job(s): I am not currently working any jobs although I have worked in the past.
Volunteer/community work: I volunteer at my church’s food bank when I can and have also helped the Allentown Rescue Mission in the past. I also take advantage of any community service opportunities that Bethlehem Vo-Tech has to offer.
Likes: I enjoy watching soccer and football, playing video games, hiking, camping, fishing, canoeing, or kayaking. I also enjoy building and working on various minor construction projects that I come up with.
Dislikes: I completely dislike losing track of personal items, losing in any sport or game, and missing out on unique opportunities.
Greatest accomplishment so far: Being a straight-A student and becoming an ambassador for SkillsUSA.
Advice for peers: Always challenge yourself in new ways. Never let unique opportunities pass you by, even if you’re unsure or even afraid of them. Always be willing to learn. Lastly; make connections. Never be afraid of getting to know new people. Connections can be extremely useful in life.
