Hokendauqua: Drop off your Operation Christmas Child items

Whitehall Bible Fellowship Church, 3300 Seventh St., will be a drop-off location for Operation Christmas Child during its national collection week Nov. 18-25. Shoe boxes will be filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items.

“Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham. The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world and, together with the local church worldwide, to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 168 million gift-filled shoe boxes to children in more than 160 countries and territories,” according to the website.

If you have items to donate, drop them off at the church during any of the following times.

• Nov. 18 - 8 a.m.-noon and 7-8:30 p.m.

• Nov. 19 - 8-10 a.m.

• Nov. 20 - 8-10 a.m.

• Nov. 21 - 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

• Nov. 22 - 8-10 a.m. and 6-8 p.m.

• Nov. 23 - 9 a.m.-noon

• Nov. 24 - 1-3 p.m.

• Nov. 25 - 8-11 a.m.

There will be a Miller-Keystone Blood Center blood drive 4-7 p.m. Nov. 18 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road.

First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, 3005 S. Front St., is hosting a glass-etching fundraiser Nov. 24. Serendipity Glassworks, of Bath, will be in the fellowship hall 1-3 p.m.

Participants choose what they would like to personalize and, using the materials provided, decorate their pieces.

The artist from Serendipity Glassworks will etch the pieces and return them to the church for pickup.

Cost depends on the piece(s) chosen but will range from about $10 to $25 per piece. Participants can choose from pint glasses, wineglasses, candle holders and glass Christmas tree ornaments.

The come-and-go event is open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

The church is raising funds to defray the cost of an electric chair lift to help members gain access to the second-floor sanctuary.
