Family Promise offers a Harvest of Hope

A Harvest of Hope Festival for Family Promise of Lehigh Valley recently took place in the Jordan United Church of Christ grove at Walbert Avenue and Church Road, South Whitehall.

Family Promise assists homeless children and their families.

The national organization is comprised of regionally based affiliates, which allows for collaboration with existing services in the communities.

Local volunteers and staff serve the Family Promise’s mission through their time, talents, and service to meet the immediate, basic needs of displaced families and assist them to build patterns that will bring long-term stability.

According to Family Promise of Lehigh Valley Executive Director Jim Byrnes, the local affiliate is aiding four families at this time.

Family Promise, in conjunction with area religious organizations, provides housing and food to these families seven days a week.

They work with local, state and federal government agencies as wells as nonprofit organizations to help these families achieve independence and self- reliance.
