WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP
Zachary J. Zimmerman, of Whitehall, who was charged Sept. 18 for allegedly sexually assaulting three children in his mother’s home day care, waived his preliminary hearing Oct. 31.
His case is now headed to formal arraignment, scheduled for Dec. 16.
Zimmerman, 22, has been charged with one count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, both felonies of the first degree. He is also charged with one count of aggravated indecent sexual assault, a felony of the second degree, and three counts of indecent assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree.
An investigation of the alleged sexual abuse, which was said to have occurred at the A Lot Like Home Daycare operated at 2307 N. First Ave., Whitehall, was conducted by Detective Jeffrey Bruchak, of the Whitehall Township Police Department. Bruchak interviewed three victims who attended the day care between 2011 and 2017. The three were juveniles when it is alleged Zimmerman had inappropriate sexual contact with them, according to Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin.
At the time of the alleged sexual abuse, Zimmerman resided at 2307 N. First Ave., where the day care was located.
Based on the findings of Bruchak’s investigation, Martin said, it is alleged that Zimmerman sexually assaulted three juveniles while they attended the A Lot Like Home Daycare.
According to reports, the day care has since been closed.
