Veterans Day program 2-3:30 p.m. at the Lower Macungie Community Center, 3450 Brookside Road, to honor veterans past and present. The event is held jointly with the Lower Macungie Historical Society, the Macungie Historical Society and VFW Post 9264, Macungie. The speaker is Capt. Richard “Dick” Buss, U.S. Navy (Ret.). Refreshments will be provided.

Witting Tree Ceremony, 11:30 a.m., a free public community remembrance acknowledging veterans’ 22 suicides each day. Event includes the playing of taps, a brief service of witness and hanging sets of dog tags on the pine tree at Coopersburg Fire House, Coopersburg. The Emmaus Garden Club will meet noon at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St., Emmaus. Jane Kruse, president of South Schuylkill Garden Club, will present a PowerPoint program on “White House Landscape Trends.” Landscape design is Kruse’s passion. She will discuss landscape design changes in the United States over the last 200 years by sharing information about the lawns at the White House.
