At the Catasauqua Area School District Board of Education meeting Oct. 8, Robert Spengler, superintendent of schools, reported district officials had an international video conference with a school in Germany. He reported they are discussing the possibility of doing a student exchange during fall 2021. The German school and CASD are connected through a mutual partnership with B. Braun.
Greg Snider was approved as a volunteer assistant drama director at Catasauqua High School. Andrew Oswald and Steven Bradley were approved as the boys and girls assistant basketball coaches, respectively, at a rate of $4,067. Jenarose Auriemma was approved as a volunteer assistant girls basketball coach.
Barbara Laky changed employment status from cafeteria substitute to general kitchen help at CMS at a rate of $11.63 per hour. Morgan Kemmerer moved from a substitute teacher to a certified instructional aide for fourth grade at Sheckler Elementary at a rate of $159 per day. Katie Buczynski changed from a paid assistant girls basketball coach at CHS to a volunteer.
The board accepted the resignations of Rosa Cortes, general kitchen help, and Jared Case, assistant boys basketball coach and substitute teacher, for personal reasons.
The school board next meets 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, 4500 Education Park, Schnecksville.
