Democrat Donald Peters is challenging incumbent Supervisor Ronald J. Heintzelman, a Republican, for a six-year term on the North Whitehall Board of Supervisors in the Nov. 5 Municipal Election.

Peters provided The Press with the following information: “As a lifelong resident of North Whitehall Township, I have seen the changes that have occurred here in the township throughout my lifetime.

“While change is unavoidable, I feel some changes have occurred without consideration of the overall impact they may have on the township as a whole.

“If given the opportunity to serve as a supervisor, I look forward to listening to residents concerns and doing my best to make decisions that will support our growing township in a positive way.”

Born and raised in North Whitehall, Peters is a graduate of Parkland High School.

He has spent the majority of his life as a property manager throughout the township.

Peters says he enjoys spending time with his kids and granddaughter.

Heintzelman, also a Parkland High school graduate, has been a township supervisor for 18 years. He has served as board chairman for more than six years. He is also a farmer.

Heintzelman told The Press: “At this point in time, I don’t see any major upcoming issues in the township.

“My goal for the next six years is to continue keeping the budget under control so that we don’t need to raise taxes and be able to continue serving the community with our recycling center, snow removal, leaf pickup and emergency services.”

Republican incumbent Andrea Semmel is unchallenged for another six-year term as township auditor.
