Macungie police provided a report of police activity for September at the Oct. 21 Macungie Borough Council meeting. Police said there were 206 incidents during the month. Criminal charges were filed against six individuals and the police assisted with 10 medical emergencies.

A DUI checkpoint was set up recently on Main Street. A total of 382 vehicles went through the checkpoint.

There were also two traffic studies conducted. One was on Church Street and the other was Lehigh Street. Both studies indicated speeding on these roads with the average speed on Church Street being below the speed limit and almost 5 mph above on Lehigh Street.

A brief discussion was held about the 2020 budget. A budget workshop is proposed 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Macungie Institute.

In other business, a resident asked if anything could be done to improve drainage on Locus Street.

Kevin Wieder was approved for the vacancy board with a term to expire Dec. 31, 2020.

Barbara Levinson is not seeking reappointment to the library board.

The borough is seeking a grant for Phase IV of the Streetscape project. The grant amount is for $391,804 from the gambling money grant Local Share Account.

An amendment was filed for the Pennsylvania Municipal Health Insurance Cooperative agreement.

Macungie will hold its annual Halloween parade Oct. 26, sponsored by the Lower Lehigh Lions Club.
