During the Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting Oct. 17, Resolution 2019-33 was approved.

This resolution has been through various stages and will allow an extended parking lot for trucks at 3350 Gehman Road. It is a 20-acre truck storage and employee parking lot serving the Mack Trucks manufacturing facility. The resolution meets all requirements for the Lehigh County Planning Commission by avoiding the 100-year floodplain.

The sewer facilities planning module was also approved. This project will allow connection for the property at 1620 Hidden Valley Road to the existing system.

In other business, Township Engineer Alan Fornwalt gave his report on some of the township’s projects. The water line extension on Indian Creek Road is ready. The project will begin shortly.

The Cedarbrook Industrial Park, also known as New Enterprises, has a recorded plan now.

There was an executive session prior to the meeting and it involved pending litigation.

Township Planning Director Nathan Jones and Sara Pandl attended the sixth annual planning gala. Lower Macungie received recognition for its open space preservation.

Township Manager Bruce Beitel presented a request to the board for a proposed memorial bench in Brookfield Park. This project is being donated and was approved by the parks and recreation committee. This was approved by the board.

The new restaurant, Notch, held its ribbon-cutting ceremony. Board President Ronald W. Beitler said Lower Macungie is fortunate to have such a high quality restaurant in the area.

The proposed library tax was discussed.
