Three of South Whitehall Township’s fire departments - Cetronia, Greenawalds and Woodlawn - along with Cetronia Ambulance Corps, Western Salisbury and Alburtis fire companies responded on Oct. 17 for a reported house fire at 622 Beverly Drive.
Homeowner Sarah Jerista-Yenser reported there was heavy smoke in her basement.
She was advised to evacuate her house by a Lehigh County 911 dispatcher.
Cetronia Engine 311, first on scene, dropped a supply line at the nearest hydrant.
Firefighters entered the basement with hand lines to extinguish any fire that may have be found.
Using infrared cameras, they discovered the smoke was caused by the home’s oil burner.
All units were clear of the scene within 45 minutes from the initial alarm.
