Northwestern Elementary recently hosted a special event for students to teach them how to stay safe.
Students participated in activities which emphasized safety in different emergency situations.
On hand were the Germansville and New Tripoli fire companies, school district police officers and Cetronia Ambulance Corps emergency medical technicians.
They brought in a small house that fills with smoke to demonstrate how kids can safely exit a dwelling.
Firefighters discussed stop, drop and roll - the technique used to extinguish a fire on a person.
They also brought along various pieces of equipment and trained rescue dogs.
To lighten the day Lehigh Valley Phantoms’ mascot, MeLVin stopped by to make the kids smile.
