Oct. 16

The Emmaus Historical Society will hold its October program 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. The program is titled “Carved in Stone: The Interpretation of Pennsylvania Dutch Tombstone Inscriptions and Decorations” and will be presented by Patrick Donmoyer, director of the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University. It will focus on some of the earliest examples of decorated and inscribed Pennsylvania Dutch gravestones, examining common trends and content and offering advice for genealogists and historians as well as best practices for graveyard preservation. All are welcome to attend this free event.

Annual trunk or treat event 6-7 p.m. at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown. Second annual Camelot for Children bingo fundraiser at Fearless Fire Company, 1221 S. Front St., Allentown. Emmaus Kiwanis Club paddle bingo “Quarters for a Cause” 2 to 5 p.m. at Macungie Fire Company #1, 32 S. Walnut St., Macungie. All proceeds go to local Kiwanis charities for children.
