Girls tennis competes in D-11 doubles tournament

Salisbury’s girls tennis team competed in the District 11 Class 2A team tournament last week.

The Lady Falcons earned the No. 6 seed overall and faced No. 3 Central Catholic in the first round last Tuesday.

The Vikettes took the match 4-1. Salisbury ends the season with an 8-7 overall record, including the district playoff match.

Several Salisbury doubles team competed in Monday’s District 11 doubles tournament.

The duo of Bryn Kubinsky and Paige Gibbons are seeded fourth in the tournament. They beat team from Central Catholic in the first round, 6-1, 6-1, then beat a Moravian Academy duo in the second round to advance to Tuesday’s quarterfinals where they were scheduled to face No. 5 seeded Cara Magliochetti and Taylor Adams of Bethlehem Catholic.

Salisbury had three doubles teams compete in districts. Maisie Oliver and and Macie Silberman faced a team from Jim Thorpe and lost a three-set match, 2-6, 6-1,10-6. Bethany Hnatow and Krista Bonge took on the No. 7 seed from Notre Dame (Green Pond) and fell 6-0, 6-0.
