BREAKING NEWS: Hiker found dead down embankment in Lynn Twp

State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, say Michael William Kaiser, 56, of Newportville, Bucks County, was found dead around noon today, Oct. 17, at the bottom of a 30-foot embanment off the Appalachian Trail, Lynn Township.

Kaiser had been reported missing after he entered the Appalachian Trail on Oct. 11.

According to police, Kaiser entered the Appalachian Trail at Route 309, Lynn Township, to hike.

He was in communication via cell phone with his brother on Oct. 12 during which he took a picture of terrain similar to Bake Oven Knob but had not been heard from since that date.

Kaiser’s brother reported him missing on Oct. 15 to the Bristol Township Police Department in Bucks County.

Troopers located Kaiser’s Ford F-150 in the vicinity of Bake Oven Road on Oct. 16.

A large number of Troopers from Bethlehem, Fogelsville, Frackville and Lehighton barracks, along with volunteers, canvassed the woods on Oct. 17, and found his body at the bottom of an embankment off the trail.
