Northampton: Jack Frost Parade is set for Oct. 17, says Northampton mayor
Mayor Thomas Reenock has proclaimed Oct. 17 as Jack Frost Day in recognition of the 71st annual Jack Frost Parade, to be held 7 p.m. that night in the borough.
The rain date for the parade is Oct. 24.
Reenock has also proclaimed Oct. 31 as trick-or-treat night in the borough. This annual Halloween event will run 6-8 p.m. Residents are encourage to participate by turning on their porch lights and greeting the costume-clad youth.

Northampton Area Historical Society will present a talk about the businesses and other historical sites in the fourth ward 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at the municipal building, 1401 Laubach Ave. Larry Oberly, with assistance from Marge Oberly and Terry Reppert, are the speakers.
The society will open the Siegfried Railroad Station museum, West 21st Street, to visitors Oct. 20. The station will be open 1-4 p.m.

Northampton Area Food Bank is sponsoring a Halloween walkathon Oct. 26. Registration starts 8:30 a.m. at the food bank, 1601 Canal St. The walk, approximately 4.5 miles, will begin 9 a.m.
Walkers are encouraged to collect pledges to support the food bank.
