A six-month songwriting workshop led by Bethlehem native and folksinger Anne Hills culminates with three concerts of original music inspired by the story of the city of Bethlehem, Oct. 9-11.

“Poets, Troubadours and Troublemakers” is one of more than 20 events through Oct. 13 that are part of Touchstone Theatre’s 10-day Festival UnBound.

Hills led bi-weekly songwriting workshops at Godfrey Daniels, Bethlehem, starting in January, with visiting songwriters John Gorka, Erin McKeown, Suzzy and Lucy Wainwright Roche, Tish Hinojosa and David Roth, and Lehigh Valley singer-songwriters Alex Radus, Dierdre Van Walters and Jack Murray.

Songwriters chosen for the workshops, Amanda Penecale, Andrew Dunn, Katherine Rondeau and Rhys Williams, along with Hills and Radus, recorded a CD of their songs that will be available for sale at the concert venues.

“Since I moved to Bethlehem 32 years ago, I have found love and support from our artistic community,” Hills said.

“Festival Unbound’s ‘Poets, Troubadours & Troublemakers’ has offered me another great chance to create, collaborate and celebrate this vibrant community,” said Hills.

The concerts feature performances by the songwriters and Hills, Radus, Van Walters and Murray.

Songs written by Hills and Williams will be featured in the closing ceremonies of Festival UnBound, 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13, Payrow Plaza, 10 E. Church St., Bethlehem.

“Poets, Troubadours, and Troublemakers” concerts are: 7 p.m. Oct. 9, Sigal Museum, 342 Northampton St., Easton; 7 p.m. Oct. 10, The Lyric Room, Miller Symphony Hall, 23 N. Sixth St., Allentown, and 8 p.m. Oct. 11, Godfrey Daniels, 7 E. Fourth S., Bethlehem. A panel discussion follows the Oct. 11 concert.
