MACUNGIE POLICE
Loriann Pitoniak, 24, of Macungie, was taken into custody for simple assault after she allegedly fought with a male in the 100 block of East Main Street where police were dispatched for the report of a disturbance. Police found a male with several lacerations to his face. The male also was bleeding from his eye and nose. A police investigation found Potaniak allegedly became violent when asked to leave a residence. Pitoniak was located at a nearby business where she was taken into custody, according to Macungie police.
A 43-year-old female, of North Carolina, was cited for alleged public drunkenness after a Macungie patrol officer observed a female walking in the 160 block of East Main Street, 12:02 a.m. Sept. 14. The female stumbled and fell on the sidewalk. She refused medical attention. According to police, the woman was returning to her camper in Macungie Memorial Park. The woman was released to a friend, according to Macungie police.
An 18-year-old male, of Macungie, was cited for alleged public drunkenness after police were dispatched to the 900 block of Hillcrest Drive South 1:37 a.m. Sept. 1 in response to several calls about a male with facial tattoos running through yards of residences while yelling about people following and threatening him. Police found the male on the front porch of a residence. The male was allegedly intoxicated and under the influence of an unknown substance, according to police.
An unknown person forced entry into the snack bar area of the Macungie Memorial Pool, 50 N. Poplar St. and removed several food and beverage items. The burglary was reported Sept. 2. Anyone with information related to vehicles or people in the area between Sept. 1 and 2 may contact Macungie police at 610-966-2222. Damage and loss was estimated to be under $500.
Ryan Joseph Caverly, 29, of Macungie, allegedly was found to be driving under the influence when police conducted a sobriety checkpoint in the 200 block of East Main Street 11:35 p.m. Sept. 6, according to Macungie police. Caverly was taken to Lehigh County Central Processing.
A 43-year-old female, of Lower Macungie Township, allegedly knocked items from tables, threw items about the house and struck a Macungie resident in the face, causing redness and swelling, during an altercation at a residence in the 200 block of Walnut Street 9:57 p.m. Sept. 16. The female fled the residence when police were called and was later found by police. She was cited for alleged harassment and disorderly conduct, according to Macungie police.
A 31-year-old male, of North Wales, allegedly was found to be in possession of a vapor pen containing marijuana oil during a sobriety checkpoint conducted in the 200 block of East Main Street 12:19 a.m. Sept. 7. According to Macungie police, charges of possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia were filed.
The Macungie Police Department, with the assistance of the Lehigh County DUI Task Force, conducted a sobriety checkpoint 11 p.m. Sept. 6 to 4 a.m. Sept. 7. Twenty-five officers from various Lehigh County police departments participated in the checkpoint. During the checkpoint, 382 total vehicle operators were contacted. One DUI arrest was made and one drug possession arrest was made. Five operators were tested and released.
