Mark your calendars for the upcoming read and treat night. The Whitehall High School library staff invite the community children, up to and including third grade, to come dressed in costume and enjoy the event 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 18.

Teachers, principals and volunteers will be handing out candy, reading fun Halloween stories and helping with Halloween crafts.

***

Gockley Elementary School’s Halloween community project takes place during the week of Oct. 21 and is dedicated to the local community food bank.

Students, staff, families and friends are encouraged to bring a canned food item and drop it off in the donation box in the school office. There will be a box by the school entrance during the Halloween parade.

This is a great way for students to learn to show kindness to neighbors and community!

Gockley Elementary will celebrate Halloween Oct. 25. The costume parade begins 9:30 a.m. in front of the school.

All children should wear their costumes to school that day. Please have costumes for the children that are simple and require minimal assistance. Costumes must be in good taste and not depict violence.

In the event of rain, the parade will be held in the gym and in the cafeteria.

Refrain from parking in front of the school or along the grass. For this event, use the parking lot by the football stadium. Cooperation is always appreciated.

Students may go directly to the cafeteria from their morning bus to purchase breakfast.

Parents should talk to their children to be sure they know to let their teacher know whether they are having lunch or packing lunch.

Download the MySchoolBucks app and get convenient access to meal balances, purchases and make payments right from your phone.
