St. Luke’s Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery’s third annual Breast Reconstruction Awareness event 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Homewood Suites in Center Valley. The event is focused on providing a fun evening for breast cancer survivors and also on educating them about their options following a mastectomy and/or lumpectomy. Proceeds will support the St. Luke’s Breast Cancer Compassion Fund, established to provide charitable support for programs and services that help St. Luke’s patients throughout their cancer journeys.

The Emmaus Historical Society will hold its October program 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. The program is titled “Carved in Stone: The Interpretation of Pennsylvania Dutch Tombstone Inscriptions and Decorations” and will be presented by Patrick Donmoyer, director of the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University. It will focus on some of the earliest examples of decorated and inscribed Pennsylvania Dutch gravestones, examining common trends and content and offering advice for genealogists and historians as well as best practices for graveyard preservation. All are welcome to attend this free event.
