Bethlehem police, fire and EMS responders were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision around 11:20 p.m. Sept. 25 on Route 378, in the southbound travel lanes near the Eighth Avenue exit.

On arrival, Bethlehem officers located a 2013 Hyundai Sonata and a 2003 Toyota Corolla. Extensive damage was done to both vehicles, which had collided, and the Corolla was on fire. The operators of both vehicles succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the crash. Both operators were pronounced dead at the scene by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.

This accident is under investigation by the Bethlehem Police Department Major Accident Reconstruction Team (MART), Traffic Unit and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. Identities of the deceased will not be released pending notification of next of kin by the coroner’s office.
