State Police Beat

State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, say a 17-year-old male from Jefferson Court, New Tripoli, was driving a 2007 Chrysler 300 at 7:41 a.m. Sept. 25 near 6879 Loy Road, Lynn Township when a bee flew into his car through an open window.

Police say the teen took his eyes off the road and began swatting at the bee.

As he attempted to remove the bee, his car was still in motion approaching a left curve in the roadway.

The car left its lane of travel and struck a tree on the right side of the road and ricocheted off the tree and struck the front passenger side bumper and wheel of a parked 2017 Ford Escape owned by Marlene Frantz of Schnecksville.

The car came to a final rest after hitting the Escape.

The teen reported minor injuries as a result of the collision but refused EMS treatment, police say.

The car was removed by Stew’s Towing.

The teen was issued a citation for a traffic violation in regards to the crash.
