State Rep. Peter Schweyer, D-22nd, and the Allentown Health Bureau are partnering to host a car seat safety check event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 16 at St. Luke’s Church, 417 N. Seventh St., Allentown.
Pennsylvania’s child passenger safety law requires children under the age of 4 to be restrained in an approved child safety seat anywhere in the vehicle.
Children under two must be secured in a rear-facing car seat until they outgrow the maximum height and weight limits designated by the car seat manufacturer.
Children ages 4 through 7 must be restrained in an appropriate booster seat.
Children ages 8 to 18 are required to wear a seat belt, though children through age 12 who do not fit in a seat belt properly are encouraged to remain in a booster seat.
An appointment is not necessary to attend.
For additional information contact Schweyer’s constituent service office at 610-791-6270.
