STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q. Who are the members of your family: parents, siblings and pets?
A. My family is made up of my mom, Janet, my dad, Keith and my younger brother, Eric.
Q. What do you most enjoy about being a senior at Emmaus High School?
A. I enjoy being able to take classes in which I am truly interested. As a senior, I have more options in every subject area and fewer classes that are required to graduate. As a result, all five of my core classes focus on topics I am eager to learn more about and I am able to fit both orchestra and Chorale into my schedule.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is history. I have always been fascinated by past lifestyles, politics, religions and conflicts. I love history because of the ability to analyze it and apply it to modern-day situations.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I am a member of National Honor Society, the French National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. In addition, I have received awards for Excellence in Academic Achievement, Excellence in English: Creative Writing and Excellence in Advanced Placement United States History.
Q. What are your favorite extracurricular activities?
A. I have many extracurricular activities that I enjoy. I love being a part of EHS Chorale, Select Choir and AccaBella. All three are groups in the choral department of EHS. I love singing with my friends and performing at community events, as well as traveling abroad to perform with Chorale. I also enjoy playing my violin with my friends as a member of the EHS orchestra, Sinfonia and Chamber. While not truly an extracurricular activity, I love my job as a museum science educator at Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. My goal after high school is to attend college and major in history, possibly with a dual major in anthropology or pre-law. After college, I plan to get a graduate degree and go on to become a college professor, museum curator or lawyer.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. The biggest challenge to date for me has been deciding which colleges to apply to and writing creative and unique essays to submit as part of my applications.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered for being passionate and driven about the things I care about while making a positive impact on the people around me.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. I admire my aunt because of her perseverance and ability to succeed at her career in a male-dominated field while raising two young daughters.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Work hard, but don’t forget to enjoy the time you have with your friends. It’s sad when friends who are older than you graduate - it makes you wish you had spent more time with them!
