Coplay Public Library: Book, bake sale planned for Oct. 4, 5

Coplay Public Library’s fall book and bake sale is scheduled for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5. There will be thousands of hardcover and paperback books for all ages, DVDs, children’s toys and much more.

After you’ve picked out your items, don’t forget to browse the bake sale, filled with delicious homemade treats. If anyone would like to bake for the sale, contact a board member or stop into the library.

Reminder: Don’t forget to stop in for storytime and crafts with Miss Veronica 11 a.m. Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24. Children of all ages are welcome.

No preregistration is required.

The library is holding a Penn State chair raffle. The chair is on display in the library and is featured on the library’s Facebook page. There is a cost for tickets, and you can enter as many times as you like.

The drawing will be 4 p.m. Nov. 16. You do not need to be present to win.

All proceeds benefit the library.

The library will be closing 6 p.m. Oct. 15 for the annual Coplay Halloween parade. We hope all our young citizens have a great time!

The library will be participating in Boscov’s annual Friends Helping Friends day, 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Oct. 16. You will be treated to free refreshments at the store and will be able to register for drawings for great prizes.

You can purchase your shopping pass at the library on or before Oct. 16. The pass is valid for Oct. 16 only and cannot be used for online purchases.

Bring the pass to Boscov’s on that day, and get 25 percent off your purchases. Some exclusions apply.

New players are always welcome on game nights. The next event is 5-7 p.m. Oct. 28. Our Scrabble experts are looking for challengers, and you can learn their strategies.

Feel free to bring your own favorite - or use our games, including Twister, Uno and more.

The fall basket raffle will be Nov. 1-16. If you would like to donate a basket or items for a basket, speak to a staff or board member.

We always have books, CDs and DVDs for sale in between the fall and spring sales. Look for the sale shelves at the front of the circulation desk - straight ahead as you come in the inner doors, to the left of checkout.

Attendees of Coplay Public Library's “Downton Abbey” event Sept. 21 settle in to begin the first episode of the popular PBS Masterpiece television show. After a break for something to eat and drink, the last episode was shown. Sept. 20 was the release date of the “Downton Abbey” movie.
