Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin has announced that a Berks County man was charged with committing institutional sexual assault for an alleged incident at KidsPeace in North Whitehall.
Kharee Javon Greene, 23, of 204. S. Kemp St., Lyons Station, Berks County, a former KidsPeace employee, has been charged with one count of institutional sexual assault, a felony of the third degree.
According to Martin, on July 11, Trooper Joshua Muniz, of State Police, Troop M, Bethlehem, investigated a report of possible child abuse at KidsPeace, 5330 KidsPeace Drive, North Whitehall.
The alleged incident is said to have occurred June 26 in the laundry room.
During the course of his investigation, Muniz interviewed the juvenile victim, age 15; a juvenile witness, age 17, and Greene.
At the time of the incident, both the victim and witness resided at KidsPeace.
In addition, Muniz viewed surveillance video from KidsPeace taken on June 26.
Based on his investigation, it is alleged Greene sexually assaulted the juvenile.
“I commend Trooper Muniz for his work in this investigation,” Martin said.
Greene was arraigned Sept. 23 through Central Booking before District Judge Jake Hammond, South Whitehall. Bail was set at 10 percent of $25,000.
According to Lehigh County Criminal Court records, Greene who was unable to post bail, was remanded to Lehigh County Jail.
His preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Sept. 30.
