St. John’s Lutheran Church is encouraging its congregation to bring nonperishable food items during morning worship Sept. 29. The items will be distributed to Coplay Recreation & Welfare Association’s food bank.

Coplay Public Library, 49 S. Fifth St., is gearing up for its popular book and bake sale Oct. 4 and 5.

The library is accepting donations of books and DVDs but is no longer accepting VHS tapes, encyclopedias or textbooks.

Whitehall Historical Preservation Society will hold a cash bingo, basket raffle and 50/50 raffle 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at Commitment to Family and Community, 165 Cherry St.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is hosting a designer purse bingo 1:30 p.m. Oct. 6 to benefit Team Coltan and Make A Wish.
