HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP: Road closures scheduled due to Heidelberg 5K

Nature loving! On Sept. 21, everyone is invited to participate in the second Heidelberg 5K and Kids 1 Mile Run/Walk, held rain or shine, 9 a.m., at Heidelberg Union Church, 5187 Irvin Road, Heidelberg Township.

According to information provided by Germansville Fire Company Deputy Chief Randy Metzger, the following roads in Heidelberg and Washington townships will be closed 8:45 a.m. Sept. 21 for the 5K:

·Church Road between Lime Kiln and Saegersville Road;

·Phillips Road at Church Road;

·Saegersville Road between Church Road and Best Station Road;

·Best Station Road between Saegersville Road and Lovers Lane;

·Furnace Road at Best Station Road;

·Hilldale Road at Irving Road and Hilldale Road at Lime Kiln Road; and

·Irving Road between Best Station Road and Church Road.

Irving Road in the area of Heidelberg Church will be closed between Hilldale Road and Church Road for a prolonged period until noon due to the congestion and the main hub of the event taking place on the church grounds.

Roads will be opened in a “rolling” fashion as the 5K proceeds. All roads other than Irving should be completely opened by 11 a.m.

Proceeds from the Heidelberg 5K and Kids 1 Mile Run/Walk will benefit the church, the fire company truck fund and the Kellen Foundation, a nonprofit based in Tatamy, Northampton County, that has programs to encourage family and community physical and emotional wellness, and which offers healthy food and lifestyle choices.
