Heidelberg 5K takes off on Sept. 21

The second annual Heidelberg 5K and 1-mile walk for kids will take place, rain or shine 9 a.m. Sept. 21 at Heidelberg Union Church, 5187 Irvin Road, Heidelberg Township.

There will be special activities for the kids, and all 1-mile walk participants, age 14 and younger, will receive a ribbon.

Kids who are age 14 and older, and those who are younger, are welcome to participate in the 5K walk/run as well.

In addition to the kids 1-mile, there will be Boy Scout and Girl Scout events and a craft area designated with products donated by Crayola.

Crafts will include creating a cow headband, a DIY hex sign and paper hens.

Certified and authorized personnel will be in the craft area to watch the children for parents who are participating in the 5K.

There is a fee for both the 5K and kids 1 mile.

Registration and number pickup is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Sept. 20 and 8 a.m. Sept. 21 at Heidelberg Union Church.

New registrants may still sign up during these times, but a T-shirt is not guaranteed.

Food and beverages will be available from The Burger Wagon and Stagger Lee’s Grille.

Proceeds will benefit Healthy Living Charities of the Lehigh Valley as designated by Heidelberg Church, the Kellyn Foundation and the Germansville Fire Company truck fund.
