Society of Arts author luncheon benefits Allentown Art Museum
The Allentown Art Museum Society of the Arts (SOTA) presents its Seventh annual “Luncheon With The Authors,” 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Oct. 3, Lehigh Country Club, Allentown.
Three nationally-acclaimed authors, Juliet Lapidos, Christopher J. Yates and Lyndsay Faye, will share remarks, participate in a panel discussion and sign books for attendees.
PBS39 “News Tonight” reporter K.C. Lopez is emcee for the Allentown Art Museum benefit.
Lapidos is author of “Talent,” a modern-day exploration of the parable of the talents set in a fictionalized New Haven, Conn.
Yates is author of “Grist Mill Road,” a thriller set in 1982 about three young friends, Patrick, Matthew and Hannah.
Faye is author of “The Paragon Hotel,” an historical fiction novel set during Prohibition in Harlem, N.Y., and Portland, Ore.
“‘Luncheon with the Authors’ gives the public an excellent opportunity, right here in Allentown, to hear candid presentations by three authors about their books, each of which is engrossing in its own way,” said Corliss Bachman, President of SOTA.
“Guests can meet and speak personally with the authors, and pose questions during the panel discussion. It’s great to read the books before the luncheon, but it’s also OK not to. Come, listen and get the inside scoop,” Bachman said.
The SOTA “Luncheon With The Authors” Committee members spent months reading more than one dozen books before deciding on the three authors, according to Bachman.
The group began reading in January and chose the authors based not only on their storytelling abilities, which was a main priority, but also on how they would be as a panelist in providing a lively discussion with the event attendees, Bachman said.
“Premium Authors’ Table” seating (limited availability) provides guests an opportunity to sit with their choice of author and talk with the author during lunch.
SOTA’s “Luncheon With The Authors” benefits educational programs at the Allentown Art Museum, the SOTA Print Fund and the SOTA Education Endowment. Books purchased through SOTA also benefit the Allentown Art Museum.
SOTA, founded in 1964, is a non-profit service organization that works with and supports the Allentown Art Museum.
