WHS soccer teams off to hot start this fall season

The Whitehall boys soccer team got off to a great start with an 8-0 win over Palisades.

The Zephs put the game away with five goals in the first half before adding three more in the second half.

Ziyad Atiyeh, Gio Mazzola, Jake Gier and Rahman Ojulari-Sulyman scored in the first half with Gier notching two and finishing with four goals total for the game.

Atiyeh got the scoring started with an assist from Elie Khalil, it was followed by Mazzola’s goal from Rahman Ojulari-Sulyman before Gier made it 3-0 on a pass from Nabieh Saloum.

Gier then assisted Ojulari-Sulyman to make it 4-0 before an unassisted Gier goal capped the first half scoring at 5-0.

Gier would score the next two to extend the lead to 7-0. Khalil assisted as did Abdul Ojulari-Sulyman on Gier’s second half goals.

Nabieh Saloum notched the Zephs final goal from Shehab Farrag.

The Zephs outshot the Pirates 17-5. Justin Mattison and Elijah Siler each made two saves in the win.

Whitehall beat Nazareth 6-0.

Krisstoph Whitfield scored four goals in the win while Jake Gier added a goal and an assist.

Ziyad Atiyeh had a goal and Gio Mazzola had an assist.

Justin Mattison made three saves in the win.

All six goals came in the first half.

Nazareth’s captain, Jack Hilarczyk, a junior, broke his foot during the game.

The girls soccer team recorded a 1-0 win over Nazareth.

Emma Bonshak scored on a Kate Bonshak pass to give the Zephs the win.

Grace Clary made six saves.

The Whitehall golf team beat Pocono West 468-552.

The Zephs Cody Suhaka and Connor Foster both led the way with a 90, Jayden Kuhn had a 94, AJ Capille shot a 96, and Kristine Landis and Kevin Landis each had a 98. Ryan Armstrong led PMW with a 96 at the par-71 Southmoore course.
