The Whitehall golf team picked up two more wins last week as the season is now headed into the back nine with the Zephyrs trying to finish on a strong note.
While most fall sports are just getting underway, the Zephyr golfers have just four matches remaining before the postseason begins.
Last week was a strong period for the Zephs as they defeated East Stroudsburg North and Pocono Mountain West. Those two wins raised their season record to 3-7.
Their first win of the week came at their home course as they shot a 479 to place second among opponents Liberty (385) and ESN (648). In the match, Kristine Landis paced the team with a solid round, finishing with a 91. A.J. Capille followed with a 95, while both Cody Suhaka and Connor Foster shot 97, and Jayden Kuhn finished his day with a 105.
They are able to shave off more strokes in their win against PMW as the home course proved favorable again. They finished their round with a 468, while the Panthers ended their day with a 552. In this match both Suhaka and Foster carded 90s to lead the team. Kuhn finished his round with a 94, while Capille finished his 18 holes with a 96. Kristine Landis and Kevin Landis also finished under a 100, the siblings each finishing with 98s.
That win saw an eleven shot improvement from Monday’s win against the Timberwolves. Head coach John Conrad said that his team is improving although they’re still not where they were last year when they averaged a 463 for the season.
“It’s a step in the right direction,” said Conrad.
The Zephyrs have been consistent through much of the year with most of their scoring players shooting between 90 and 100. That was the case in their last two wins.
Next up for the Zephyrs will be East Stroudsburg South on Thursday as they travel to Water Gap Country Club at Wolf Hollow.
