Whitehall Township police are investigating a report of a 2-1/2-year-old injured in a self-inflicted shooting Sept. 2.

According to Police Chief Michael Marks, officers were called to an area hospital just after 11 a.m. for a report of a child who was the victim of an accidental shooting that occurred earlier inside a home in the 4100 block of Springmill Road. Marks said the child had been transported to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries before police were contacted.
