37th West Park House Tour Sept. 8

The West Park Civic Association’s 37th Annual House Tour, held annually since 1982, is 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sept. 8.

Advance tickets are available for purchase on the West Park website, westpark-ca.org; and at Albright’s Hardware, C. Leslie Smith, Boutique To Go, Hummus House, Phoebe Floral, RE:find, Walter’s Pharmacy and Weil Antiques. Tickets may be purchased and prepaid vouchers may be redeemed, 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sept. 8, Episcopal Church of the Mediator, 1620 W. Turner St., Allentown.

The tour features homes and businesses that have been repurposed or restored to their historic grandeur.

This year’s tour includes center city redevelopment: The Vault, Center Square Lofts and Tower Five and RB Collection.

Throughout the tour, visitors will see a variety of interiors and gardens reflecting detailed restorations as well as the latest in contemporary living.

The Community Music School will offer afternoon entertainment where the restored Hess Lounge, the epitome of Hollywood Glam style, can be seen.

West Park has an arboretum, fountain and band shell.

In 2001, a portion of the neighborhood between 14th and 17th streets and Chew and Court streets was designated The West Park Historic District.

The West Park Civic Association was founded in 1976 to preserve, protect, enhance and promote West Park and the surrounding neighborhood.
