Salary increases in district

Parkland’s school board recently approved a 3-percent increase for Act 93 administrators, confidential administrative assistants, and the central office administration.

The Act 93 group includes 65 individuals who are directors of major district departments, principals and assistant principals at all levels, coordinators and supervisors in various areas, psychologists, technology administrators, transportation and garage supervisors, and more.

Teachers and union employees have contracted salaries and are not in the Act 93 category.

Salaries for the central administration also reflect a 3-percent increase with Superintendent Richard Sniscak, who will receive $187,326; Assistant Superintendent Dr. Rod Troutman, who will earn $166,951, and Director of Business Administration John Vignone, who will receive $166,033.

Vignone also serves as board secretary and right-to-know officer.

The board also approved insurance policies and premiums for the 2019-20 school year.

These include $900,564 for workers’ compensation insurance; $587,386 for property, casualty, and automobile coverage; and $289,500 for student accident insurance.

Other insurance premiums for the new term are $52,797 for excess liability; $40,600 for school board legal liability; $21,561 for boiler and machinery coverage; and $16,333 for cyber liability/privacy protection.

In another matter, the board approved the following cafeteria prices for the 2019-20 school year: elementary lunch, $2.70; secondary lunch, $2.95; adult lunch, $3.95; elementary breakfast, $1.50; secondary breakfast, $1.75; adult breakfast, $2.50; reduced price lunch, 40 cents; and reduced price breakfast, 30 cents.
