Farming course on Sept. 11

The Small Farm Dream, a three-evening course is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. on Sept. 11, 18, and 25 at Gracedale Nursing Home (Tower One Conference Room and Victorian Gardens Room), 2 Gracedale Ave., Nazareth.

The aim of course is to learn what it takes to start and manage a farm as an agricultural business, and to help navigate the process of starting a small farming operation.

This course is geared for the exploratory discovery-based learner.

Educators from Penn State Extension, guest speakers from local farms, the USDA, and agricultural banking and lending will lead the class on a journey to explore, organize and evaluate many of the steps necessary to launch a successful agricultural farming business.

The fee to attend includes course books, materials and light refreshments.
