DIY wreath-making a hit at library

On the third Thursday of every month, Parkland Community Library holds a DIY fun hour for adults.

Mariann Kmetz, the head of technical services at the library, decides what the craft of the month will be.

Kmetz demonstrated to those in attendance how to make a fabric wreath.

She had all the supplies available for those who had responded.

Some of the women attending brought their own fabric.

Kmetz demonstrated using a rotary hand cutter how to measure and carefully cut the fabric into strips.

She also supplied the metal circle used to wrap the strips of fabric onto it.

The DIY program next month, will be Sept. 19 and the group will be making a body scrub.

A lemon sugar scrub will be mixed and added to an attractive jar that can be kept and displayed and used or can be given as a gift.
