Board discusses various issues

During the Lynn Township supervisors’ Aug. 8 meeting, Roadmaster Bruce Raber reported his crew was busy as usual.

Along with working at Ontelaunee Park, the crew was mowing, cutting trees on mountain roads, replacing signs, cleaning culverts, working on the dirt roads and will be working at the Night in the Country.

Lynnport Fire Company will have its 75th anniversary celebration beginning with a parade 2-8 p.m. Sept. 7.

They responded to 34 calls so far this year.

The fire company will be hosting a basic fire police training course starting Sept. 9 and meat bingo will be on Sept. 15.

New Tripoli Fire Company responded to 82 calls as of the meeting date.

In other matters, the board granted an extension of time for the Paul Kuhn subdivision until Oct. 31.

The subdivision straddles the line between Lynn and Weisenberg townships, and as the driveway is in Lynn, the review will be done by Lynn Township.

The proposed amendments to the sewer ordinance will be advertised for adoption.

Ross Valley bridge is in need of attention.

The board authorized Keystone Consulting Engineers to place the repairs out for bid.

In their opinion, the repairs would cost around $160,000.

The board will use liquid fuels money from the state to cover the cost.

Development of the walking trail at the recreation field will be funded by grant money and Nestle money.

Chairman Smith noted that there have been some instances of pilfering of tools at the park.

Security cameras will be installed to try to apprehend those committing the crime.

The Apple Festival will be held Oct. 5 at Ontelaunee Park.
