Rotary Club of Allentown joins forces with Habitat for Humanity

The Rotary Club of Allentown Habitat volunteers recently worked on a restoration project in downtown Allentown.

They worked alongside the home’s future owner and two other future homebuyers on July 21.

The heat index was high but spirits were higher and fortunately the air conditioning was installed and made operational two days before painting started.

The Rotarians and friends, including President Don Wieand, Lou Bottitta, Tom Christman, Michael and Lisa Luciano, and Connor Corpora, put a second coat of paint on every room inside the house and a third coat on most of the rooms.

They also painted all the molding, exceeding the expectations of the project site manager.

The owner and family are scheduled to be in their new home in November, just in time for the holidays.

The city subsidized one-third of the total rehabilitation cost for the project with the goal of reclaiming an abandoned building and putting another house on the tax rolls.
