St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1028 Church St., Fogelsville, is hosting a free community dinner from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 16 in the fellowship hall.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Avenue, South Whitehall Township, will be showing the movie “The Petrified Forest” 1 p.m. Aug. 19.
Book Quest will meet 7-8 p.m. Aug. 20 to discuss a short story.
New members are welcome to attend.
Kids in the Teen Anime Club will meet to watch their favorite Anime while making different flavors of bubble tea 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21.
Join the library’s knitting and crocheting circle 2-4 p.m. Aug. 22.
Bring knitting materials and spend an afternoon swapping knitting and crocheting tips and tricks.
The library will present its Guardians of the Galaxy Escape Room for kids in grades six through 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 24.
All these programs are free and held at the library.
Join CPA Paul Stocker for a Society Security options and answer seminar 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 27.
Unleash your creativity and learn how to decrease stress at the Joy of Coloring and Brain Puzzles class for adults at 3 p.m. Aug. 28.
The library staff will provide the coloring pages, pencils and free snacks.
Registration is needed to attend the book club, movie, seminar and Guardians of the Galaxy Escape Room.

Ziegels Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will host an end-of-summer festival for the community in the grove 4-9 p.m. Aug. 24.
Entertainment will be provided by the Hannah Violet Trio.
Food will include turkey barbecue, hot dogs, ham sandwiches, french fries, ice cream and more.
There will be a snow cone sale to benefit the Sunday School.
Activities will include at least four different carnival type games including the ball pit, a free kids’ area with face painting, rock painting, corn boxes and tattoos.
There will also be a pedal tractor pulls for adults and kids, a cake walk, bake sale and raffle.
All proceeds from the picnic will go toward the Ziegels’ youth program and Family Promise.
Bring family, friends and neighbors and enjoy a great night.

Zion’s Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, will have its Sunday School Picnic and Rally Day at 10 a.m. Aug. 25 at the Longswamp Park (upper pavilion).
Bring lawn chairs for an afternoon of entertainment from Puppet and Story Works.
The Sunday School will provide hot dogs and beverages at noon.
