Whitehall Township Public Library: Open mic event set for Aug. 19

The third Monday open mic and jam will be held 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19. Thank you to Rocking the Valley Online Radio and Earl Andrews for their support.

Entertainers interested in performing three songs or a 15-minute set are asked to sign up between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Musicians, singers, poets, comedians, actors, writers and storytellers are invited to come show off your stuff, or just come and be part of the audience!

There will be a movie night 6 p.m. Aug. 20 in the community room. This month’s movie is “WALL-E” by Disney/Pixar.

Mark your calendar for the fifth annual block party, for all ages, to be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 24 in the picnic area. There will be yard games, tunes by deejay Kelly Eisenhauer, food and a door-prize drawing.

There is no rain date. In case of inclement weather, the event is canceled.

The adult summer reading program will end 4 p.m. Aug. 24. Submit your reading list online or by paper copy at the desk.

The adult wrap-up party will be 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 27. You may attend either party.

The adult coloring club will meet 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. This club is for anyone 18 and older.

The library has some supplies but invites you to bring your own as well.

The What Are You Reading Now? book club meets 1 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Patrons are invited to chat about whatever books they are reading at the moment - the ones you loved, the ones you hated and everything in between.

The beading club meets 1:30 p.m. every Monday and Thursday in the reference area.

The knitting club meets 6-8 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of each month.

Clicking on “Research and Learn” on the library’s website allows you to access the Power Library.

Power Library contains e-resources and is free access to newspapers, magazines, journals, image databases, STEM information, resources for young readers, eBooks and more. Many articles are full text.
