To the Editor:

Well, it seems our little country townships have become a magnet for warehouses. Everybody and their brother are looking to build along our two-lane major highways and our cow paths with absolutely no regard to the residents who live here. So now, we are looking at major traffic problems, noise (beep-beep-beep), bright lights, maintenance of our roads and bridges ($$), only to name a few.

But did anyone think about the problems we will incur with the many retention ponds popping up all over? Also, how many retention ponds can be put in a 10-mile radius? And then, who becomes responsible for maintaining these eyesores with their green slime and long weeds?

I just read an article that a mosquito in Allentown tested positive for West Nile virus. Are these retention ponds going to be a breeding ground for mosquitoes?

I also question whether it is safe to put a retention pond next to a park (Allen Township) or next to residential homes - with the green slime, long weeds, critters, disease from insects, especially mosquitoes (which are carriers of multiple diseases, not only West Nile) and then also no fences.
