Brookside Road construction has begun

PENNDOT

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Engineering District 5 announced work has begun on a $1,706,780 project to resurface Brookside Road in Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh County.

Work on this project includes milling, base repair, paving, installing rumble strips, Americans with Disabilities Act compliant curb ramps and pavement markings on Brookside Road between Route 222 and Buckeye Road in Lower Macungie Township.

Motorists should expect to see nighttime lane restrictions with flagging between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

In addition, through Aug. 23 Brookside Road will be closed and detoured between Indian Creek Road and Lehigh Street to facilitate a full-depth roadway reconstruction underneath the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge. The detour utilizes Buckeye Road, Main Street, Willow Lane and Sauerkraut Lane.

Updates will be provided whenever traffic pattern schedules change.

Highway Materials, Inc. of Flourtown, is the general contractor on the project, which is expected to be complete by Sept. 13.
