Relaxing jazz: Chaise Lounge eases back into Miller Symhony Hall, Allentown, for the “Jazz Upstairs Series,” 7:30 p.m. Aug. 16. Silent no more: The Allentown Band, conducted by Ronald Demkee, provides the soundtrack for the silent film, “The General,” starring Buster Keaton, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17, Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown. Watch the movie on the big screen while the Allentown Band performs music from the Civil War era in which the film’s story takes place. The 1926 comedy is re-mastered in high definition. Not his first rodeo: Clay Walker performs in concert, 8 p.m. Aug. 18, Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe. Doors open at 6 p.m. Walker, of Houston, Tex., first topped the Billboard country singles chart in 1993 with “What’s It to You” and followed with the consecutive No. 1 hit, “Live Until I Die.” Since then he’s placed 31 titles on Billboard’s singles chart, including chart-toppers, “Dreaming with my Eyes Open,” “If I Could Make Living,” “This Woman and This Man” and “Rumor Has It.” He’s had four platinum-selling albums and two gold albums. An avid cowboy, Walker placed seventh riding Maddie in the cutting horse competition at the Houston Livestock Rodeo. Walker, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1996, has raised $2 million through his Band Against MS nonprofit. Walker founded Military Warriors Support Foundation, which gives mortgage-free houses to soldiers wounded in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.
