Dr. Anthony Naradko has been appointed full-time director of safety and security for the Parkland School District.

Previously, his position also included assistant principal at the high school.

Naradko oversees the Safe2Say Something program which teaches students and staff how to recognize warning signs, especially in social media, of individuals who may be a threat to themselves and to other people.

Students are encouraged to say something to a trusted adult or use the Safe2Say anonymous reporting system.

Superintendent Richard Sniscak explained the Safe2Say anonymous tip line inaugurated in Pennsylvania in January is a great addition to all of the safety and security measures in Parkland schools.

Parkland received 500 tips since February.

“Staff time to research every tip has become extremely consuming. This new position will allow Tony to focus on school security every day as it will eliminate his duties as assistant principal at Parkland High School,” Sniscak said.

Naradko developed security and safety/crisis plans for all district schools and serves as the primary Emergency Management Official for Parkland.

He trains and supervises the School Resource Officers, hall monitors, playground aides, and crossing guards.

Naradko participates in the hiring process, training, and evaluation of district safety and security related staff members.

He coordinates training and resources for students and staff in matters of situational awareness, behavioral health, suicide, bullying, and substance abuse.

Naradko also oversees training drills for fires, natural disasters, active shooters, hostage situations, and bomb threats.

Sniscak reported Parkland has invested in state of the art technology for security protection, including high resolution video cameras and software that allows the district to share real time information with emergency responders.

Naradko will work to improve school safety and security through the use of technology and community resources.

Craig Waters was selected to move from mathematics teacher to assistant principal at the high school to replace Naradko in that position.
