Director of Finance Stephen Carr introduced Scott Boehret, the new township finance manager, during the June 19 South Whitehall commissioners’ meeting.

A native of Wapwallopen, Boehret worked in public accounting the last three years and recently passed his CPA exam.

In other matters, Director of Operations Randy Cope announced 450 children are enrolled in the summer playground program with 28 others on the waiting list.

Cope said the township has five Little Free Libraries, provided with help from Eagle Scouts.

Katrina Sundstrom, of the Parkland C.A.R.E.S. Food Pantry, 5074 Kernsville Road, reported 12 members of the community benefited from the pantry that day.

“We give parents a chance to shop,” Sundstrom said. “Families appreciate that.”

She noted families tell her at other food pantries they are handed a bag already filled, and much of it they cannot use.

Sundstrom said a mobile pantry and community center are under consideration for the future.
