Egypt Community Church, 4129 S. Church St., is having a 285th anniversary celebration Aug. 17 and 18.
Festivities include a prayer walk 10 a.m. Aug. 17 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 18. The worship service will include hymns from the 1700s, historical presentations in period dress, a portrayal of the preacher Jonathan Edwards, a historical tour and a luncheon.

Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon, will host a breakfast 8 a.m.-noon Sept. 8.
There is a cost for adults and older children. Those ages 4 and under eat for free.
The Friends of the Tomcat will host a blood drive 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on the day of the breakfast in the firehouse parking lot. Donors who show their blood donation sticker will receive a $1 discount on their breakfast.

Mark your calendar for the Laurel Fire Company’s fall festival and open house, noon-4 p.m. Oct. 12. Residents are invited to get a close-up look at the firetrucks and boats used by the firefighters.
Get your pictures taken in the firetrucks, enjoy a meal and other items from vendors and place a bid or two on the basket raffle prizes.
