Good Will Fire Company No. 1 of Trexlertown recently hosted its annual banquet during which several members of the fire team and ladies auxiliary were recognized for their accomplishments.
Firefighter Zachary Miller was named Probationary Firefighter of the Year and Chief William Gillespie II received the Green Cross Rescue Award for the second time.
Fire Marshal Dennis McArdle was named Firefighter of the Year for the second time and Chaplain Daris Gross, who recently passed away, was named Ladies Auxiliary Member of the Year.
During the May 7 fire company business meeting, the organization honored Lou Wheeland for his professional support to the organization over the past decade.
“Mr. Lou Wheeland has covered not only our emergency calls through the years, but also our other community activities such as fundraising events, 100th anniversary celebration activities, banquets, and Santa Runs to name a few,” McArdle said. “Through his talents, he not only has kept the community informed of our activities but captured the continuing history of our organization for future generations to look back on.”
In recognition of his contributions to the organization, Wheeland was selected as an Honorary Life Member of the Good Will Fire Company No. 1 of Trexlertown and was presented an American Eagle trophy to commemorate the occasion.
